Harvest is nearly complete in all sunflower producing areas, according to the National Sunflower Association.
In North Dakota, 91 percent of the sunflower crop is reported harvested. That rate is ahead of last year, but behind the average of 97 percent. In South Dakota, 95 percent of the sunflower crop has been harvested, while growers in Kansas have harvested 92 percent of their sunflower crop.
A summary of seed quality for the Northern Plains includes:
• Test weight: 28 lbs.
• Moisture: 9.7 percent.

• Oil content: 41.13 percent.
Meanwhile, the association's board of directors will gather Dec. 4 and 5 in Bismarck, N.D. for the annual meeting. Agenda items include discussions on crop insurance, hybrid improvement, research priorities and pre-proposals, grower and industry reports, the association's budget, as well as product and grower promotion. The group will also elect officers.
