The South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation is investigating a shooting and pursuit that took place in the early morning hours Sunday in Mitchell.
According to the Mitchell Police Division, officers from the division responded at approximately 2 a.m. to the 700 block of South Rowley Street for a report of an individual shooting a gun. The release from the Mitchell Police Division said no further information was being released at this time as the matter is under investigation with the DCI.
Tim Bormann, chief of staff for the South Dakota Office of the Attorney General, of which the Division of Criminal Investigation is a part, confirmed the incident and said the investigation is ongoing at this time.
“The Mitchell PD responded to a shots fired call in the 700 block of S. Rowley around 2 a.m. Sunday morning. There were some injuries to individuals that were non-life threatening. The situation turned into a pursuit,” Bormann said in an email to the Mitchell Republic.
Bormann said the suspect was taken into custody and that there would be no further comment at this time as the matter is under investigation.

“As the matter is ongoing, I cannot comment further at this time,” Bormann wrote.
