The city of Mitchell would like to remind citizens to check their sump pumps to make sure that they are working properly.

It is recommended that sump pumps be drained to the curb. If possible, do not drain your water in your backyard so you or your neighbor do not have to recycle the ground water.

Do not drain sump pumps into floor drains or into the sanitary sewer system to back up on you or your neighbors.
