String of Mitchell thefts under investigation

Sgt. Dave Beintema of the Mitchell Police Division said Tuesday that officers are investigating three thefts that occurred in Mitchell between March 27 and April 1.

In all three cases, the thief or thieves entered through unlocked doors.

Wednesday, police received reports that alcohol and a cell phone charger were stolen from a room that was left open at the Corn Palace Motel.

Saturday, a female student at Dakota Wesleyan University reported the theft of a $200 ring and a North Face jacket worth about $100 from a dormitory room at 1200 W. University Ave.

Finally, sometime between Friday and Monday, a thief reportedly entered an unsecured door at Wise Tire, 519 S. Sanborn Blvd., and stole a $100 petty fund from behind a counter.
