SIOUX FALLS (AP) - Drop-off sites have been set up in five South Dakota cities for an effort to help homeless and at-risk military veterans.

The Veteran's Holiday Relief Drive is seeking contributions of household and hygiene items, winter clothing, store gift cards and cash. Contributors are asked to put the items in baskets.

The Argus Leader reports that drop-off sites have been set up in Sioux Falls, Vermillion, Pierre, Rapid City and Hot Springs.

The South Dakota American Legion Auxiliary and Miss South Dakota pageant contestant Autumn Simunek are spearheading the effort. Some school classrooms also are taking part.
