Tuesday's vote totals for the construction of an indoor aquatic facility were approved Thursday.
The Mitchell City Council held a special meeting to canvass results from the special election to approve financing for the construction of an indoor aquatic facility.
The council approved the vote totals of 1,440 in support of the project and 1,213 in opposition.
The approved funding includes $4,808,880 in city funds, $2 million in lease purchase financing, $750,000 in Mitchell community project reserves and $500,000 from the Mitchell Area Development Corporation in the form of a loan repayment.
The indoor pool project will include a 75-foot by 82-foot competition pool, a 1,200-square foot leisure pool and other necessary equipment for operation of the two pools.
