A site plan for a new retail fireworks and gift-shop building was approved Monday by the Mitchell Planning and Zoning Commission.

The proposed building's tentative address is 2675 W. Havens Ave. The site plan was tabled at the last Planning and Zoning meeting because it was deemed incomplete by commission members. Cam Starr, who is proposing to build the structure, submitted a more detailed plan that was approved Monday by the commission and will allow Starr to obtain a building permit.

Also Monday, the commission noted the withdrawal of a proposed plat in N. Boyden First Addition; recommended for approval a variance for Mark Stedronsky to construct an enclosed breezeway connecting garage to house at 216 E. Sixth Ave.; and recommended for approval a rezoning and conditional use permit that would allow Robert and Sherri Porter to operate an automobile detailing business at 5100 Fiala Road.

The items that were recommended for approval will next be considered by the City Council.
