SIOUX FALLS (AP) - Sioux Falls School District officials have decided to keep the details of their national search for a new superintendent secret until a new hire is announced in the spring.
The Argus Leader reports school officials created a timeline for the process Wednesday during a meeting with HYA Executive Search. The district hired the firm to coordinate the search to replace Superintendent Pam Homan.
School board members agreed to keep the slate of candidates under wraps until a single finalist is chosen from an expected pool of three semi-finalists around April. They say community members will be able to submit their preferred characteristics for a new schools leader in an online survey.
Officials will meet with focus groups on Dec. 16-17.
HYA consultant Ted Blaesing says it's easier to recruit candidates in a confidential search.
