SIOUX FALLS (AP) -- Officials at the Sioux Falls airport are considering shuttling travelers to airports in other states when a major runway project grounds flights during four weekends this fall.
According to media reports, officials are particularly concerned about disruptions during major events such as the Sioux Falls Marathon on Sept. 9.
The airport will be closed two weekends in August and two weekends in September as crews replace 30-year-old concrete at the intersection of the two major runways. Airport officials say shuttling air travelers to Sioux City, Iowa, or to Omaha, Neb., might be options.
