Friend de Coup is off to a “spectacular” start.
The Mitchell High School show choir group traveled to Omaha, Nebraska, for its first competition of the season over the weekend. The competition was called Westside Competition of Excellence, and according to the group’s director, Jen Randall, Friend de Coup performed very well in its daytime performance earning a spot in the finals.
Mitchell earned first runner-up just behind Riverside Company, a group based out of Hastings, Minnesota. Friend de Coup also was awarded Best choreography and Best Closer.
“We are extraordinarily proud of our work on Saturday,” Randall said. “For a first outing, the kids really exceeded expectations again some tough competitors who have already competed two or three times this season. We're very excited about this start.”
The group’s next competition will take place on Feb. 11 in Urbandale, Iowa.
