SIOUX FALLS (AP) -- The Minnehaha County sheriff is investigating at least three reports of arson at the Big Sioux Recreation Area in Brandon.
According to media reports, a few acres of land and trees and a few archery targets have been scorched. The fires were set on the back trail area that typically sees few campers.
Split Rock Volunteer Fire Department officials say the fires have been popping up at the park for the past couple of weeks.
Investigators say they believe they're close to a potential suspect or suspects.
The sheriff anticipates sending paperwork on the case to the Minnehaha County State's Attorney in the near future. That office will decide whether to file charges.
