SIOUX FALLS (AP) - Sioux Falls-based SDN Communications intends to buy Sioux Valley Wireless, which provides Internet service to thousands of homes in eastern South Dakota and other states.

The acquisition is expected to be finalized after April 2015. Sioux Valley Wireless transmits data from towers in Rowena, Colman and Freeman to a small microwave antenna at the subscriber's location. It also provides services in Brookings, Dell Rapids, Hartford and Madison.

Officials say both companies will work together to ensure a smooth transition for customers.

SDN CEO Mark Shlanta says the purchase will allow SDN to expand offerings beyond its core business-to-business broadband and network services.

Sioux Valley Wireless has been in business for 25 years. It is a subsidiary of Sioux Valley Energy.
