PIERRE (AP) - A central South Dakota woman who authorities accuse of using someone else's name to apply for a credit card has been arrested.

Pierre Police Capt. Elton Blemaster tells KCCR-AM that a woman reported to police on Tuesday that someone tried to apply for a card using her name. Blemaster says officers then successfully tracked down the fraudulent application to 26-year-old Katey McGruder using an IP address and email address provided by the credit card company.

Blemaster says the Pierre woman has been arrested on an identity theft charge, a Class 6 felony. McGruder's companion at the time of the arrest, 26-year-old Christopher Quick Bear, was also taken into custody. He's facing an ingesting charge.

Both were transported to the Hughes County Jail. It's unclear whether they have legal representation.
