DEADWOOD (AP) -- The South Dakota Commission on Gaming has approved rule changes regulating the $1,000 bet limit passed by the state Legislature, but not before addressing security issues.
According to media reports, commissioners are requiring that casinos offering the higher bet limit keep surveillance images for 14 days, an increase from the current seven days, to make it easier to catch cheaters.
Casinos not increasing their bet limits will have until July 1, 2013, to comply.
Commission director of operations Craig Sparrow says if there is collusion between a player and a dealer, the archived images offer a little more time to follow it.
Deadwood Gaming Association president Tom Nelson had requested an extra year for casinos to upgrade equipment and servers to store the extra data.
