PIERRE (AP) - Brandon Sazue has been elected chairman of South Dakota's Crow Creek Sioux Tribe.

Tribal members held their general election on Thursday.

KCCR-AM reports Sazue received 503 votes; Joseph Shields received 449.

Sazue was chairman from 2008-2010, and again from 2012-2014. He says the No. 1 issue on the Crow Creek Reservation is preventing the suicide.

Sazue says other top issues are the methamphetamine epidemic and the lack of tribal police on the reservation.
