Robert Duane "Bob" Victor, 85, Sioux Falls, formerly of Mitchell and Pierre, died Monday, Jan. 26, 2009, at Prince of Peace, Sioux Falls.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at First Lutheran Church, Mitchell. Burial will be in Servicemen's Memorial Cemetery, Mitchell. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Will Funeral Chapel, Mitchell, with a 7 p.m. prayer service.

He was born on Aug. 31, 1923, in Mitchell to Emil and Emma (Sebbe) Victor.

He graduated from Mitchell High School and attended the University of Minnesota until he enlisted in the Army Air Corps and served from 1942 to 1946.

Following his discharge from the service, he completed his degree in engineering at South Dakota State University, Brookings.

On May 21, 1950, he married Elda Larson at Oldham.

They lived in Mitchell for 11 years, where he worked for his father's trucking company, Haley's. He later worked for the South Dakota Department of Transportation.

He was transferred to the finals division of the South Dakota Department of Transportation in Pierre, where they lived until 200,3 when they moved to Sioux Falls.

He was a member of Lutheran Memorial Church, Pierre.

He is survived by his children: Rich and wife Mary, Black Hawk; Cheryl Gaeckle and husband Tom, Sioux Falls; and Dave and wife Angie, Mitchell; and seven grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents and a brother, Art.
