"Relay for Life," a signature event of the American Cancer Society, will return to Mitchell on Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 12-13 at the Davison County 4-H Building.
ACS Relay for Life Honorary Survivors are Ron and Arlene Gates and Casey Hohn. They will lead the Survivors lap.
"This unforgettable event raises awareness and funds to support research, education, advocacy and local programs in collaboration with the Avera Queen of Peace Cancer Center," said Judy K. Wise, general chairman.
The event runs from 6 p.m. through 6 a.m. the following day to symbolize a cancer patient's journey through the darkness of treatment to the daylight of hope.
At 5 p.m. on Jan. 12, cancer survivors and spouses and or caregivers are invited to a free celebration sit down meal.

A special ceremony will include the lighting of Luminaria which honor those fighting cancer and to remember those who have lost their battle.
Luminaria may be ordered at County Fair Food Store, Prairie Breeze Gallery and Jitters.
They will also be available at the event.
Local youth teams will walk the overnight hours and all participants are welcome to join them.
The night will include concessions, bingo, music and entertainment of various kinds by local citizens and groups.
Co-chairmen are Wise and Judy Goldhammer. Anne Anderson is serving as the Youth Chairman.
