RAPID CITY (AP) -- The income tax evasion trial for a Rapid City surgeon has been delayed.
Edward Picardi is accused of defrauding the Internal Revenue Service out of more than $800,000. He was to stand trial beginning May 14. According to media reports, Picardi's attorney requested a new trial, citing medical reasons.
The jury trial is now set to begin Sept. 17 in federal court in Rapid City.
