RAPID CITY (AP) - Rapid City police say a car being pursued by officers crashed into a light pole and caught fire, sending the three people inside to the hospital to be treated for serious injuries.

Authorities say the car sped off Wednesday night when an officer tried to make a traffic stop for an equipment violation, and eventually crashed. Police say someone tossed a gun from the vehicle during the chase, and officers later found other weapons including a sawed-off shotgun in the car, along with methamphetamine.

The 19-year-old driver was arrested on several charges, and charges against the two passengers are pending.
