SIOUX FALLS (AP) - A Sioux Falls man is accused of shooting his dog in the face with a handgun.
Police say 36-year-old Michael Schwarz was drunk when he shot the dog with a .44 Magnum. It is not clear if the shooting was intentional.
Police spokesman Sam Clemens tells the Sioux Falls Argus Leader that the dog was taken to a veterinarian and is "not doing well."
Schwarz is charged with reckless discharge of a firearm and possession of a loaded firearm while intoxicated. Additional charges are possible even if the dog survives.
Clemens says Schwarz told a relative what happened and the relative called police.
