A Mitchell man pleaded no contest Tuesday to raping a 13-year-old girl.
Kristian Slaybaugh, 41, entered his plea during court at the Davison County Public Safety Center.
According to court documents, Slaybaugh had sex with the girl in a van in Mitchell. Although Slaybaugh did not directly admit to having sex with the girl, semen found on the victim's pants was positively identified as his, court documents say.
Due to a plea agreement, Slaybaugh's conviction was reduced to fourth-degree rape, which carries a maximum penalty upon conviction of 15 years in prison and a $30,000 fine.
Judge Tim Bjorkman ordered a psychosexual evaluation and a presentence investigation. He scheduled sentencing for May 17.
