SIOUX FALLS (AP) -- The Pierre City Commission has finalized contracts with the union representing two groups of city employees, and Rapid City and its firefighters have come to an agreement on wages. Both disputes have been ongoing for about two years.

The Pierre dispute involves the city's non-administrative civilian employees and some workers in the police department. According to media reports that the city declared an impasse in 2010 and imposed a contract but the state Supreme Court eventually ordered negotiations to resume.

City and union officials in Rapid City told the media that the proposed agreement there was the result of a bargaining process that began shortly after a court ruling in the firefighter union's favor in January.
