SIOUX FALLS (AP) - Quarterback Peyton Manning of the Super Bowl champion Denver Broncos will be the featured speaker for the inaugural South Dakota Sports Awards.
Argus Leader Media reports that the event June 3 at the Sanford Pentagon will honor high school athletes from around the state for achievements during the 2015-16 school year. It also will include recognition for coaches, teams and community contributors.
More than 100 athletes will be nominated for awards involving 17 sports.
Manning is a five-time NFL most valuable player who also won a Super Bowl earlier in his 18-year career when he was with the Indianapolis Colts. The 39-year-old quarterback is debating retirement.
