RAPID CITY (AP) - A Pennington County correctional officer is accused of stealing a boat.

The Rapid City Journal reports that 23-year-old Mathew Leszcynski allegedly stole a boat valued at $100,000 at Pactola Reservoir on Monday. He faces a grand theft charge that carries a maximum punishment of 15 years in prison.

The sheriff's office says Leszcynski has been fired as a jail guard. He's due in court Sept. 7. It wasn't clear if he had an attorney, and a home telephone listing for him couldn't be found.
