Paul Edward Welch, 77, Portland, Ore., died Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2009.
Memorial services were on Jan. 12, 2009, at Holman, Hankins, Bowker and Waud Funeral Home, Portland.
He was born on May 30, 1931, in Mitchell.
He was raised in Mitchell.
He served in the U.S. Army and was an auto mechanic with Lyman Slack Chevrolet.

He lived in Gladstone and Redland, Ore.
In 1964, he married Jean Greggersen.
He is survived by his wife, daughters: Paula Nardin, Denise Wheeler and Kay Hastings; a stepson, Craig Koch; seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, three brothers: Duane, Denny and Jim; and a sister, Ruth Paulsen.
He was preceded in death by two stepsons: Keith Koch and Phillipi Koch.
