A Mitchell man received prison time Tuesday for a drug possession conviction.
Tremayne Scott, 34, was sentenced to eight years in prison during court at the Davison County Public Safety Center. Judge Tim Bjorkman suspended four of those years and ordered they run at the same time as a four-year prison term Scott is currently serving.
Scott was on parole earlier this year on a conviction in Pennington County when he was arrested for possessing methamphetamine. He was sent back to Mike Durfee State Prison in Springfield for that parole violation and appeared in court Tuesday wearing an orange prison jumpsuit.
Scott said he wanted the concurrent sentence so he could have a chance to get out on parole in two years and take care of his family.
Bjorkman also ordered Scott pay $104 in court costs, $136.30 in prosecution costs and repay court-appointed attorney fees. He is eligible for parole in September 2015.
