HOVEN — One person was killed Thursday afternoon in a one-vehicle crash near Hoven.
According to the South Dakota Department of Public Safety, a 2003 Chevrolet Malibu was southbound on South Dakota Highway 47 when the driver lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle entered a gravel field approach and rolled.
The crash occurred near mile marker 208, about 5 miles west of Hoven.
A 23-year-old male occupant, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was thrown from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. The other occupant, a 23-year-old female, suffered minor injuries, but was not transported. Her seatbelt use is under investigation.
It has not yet been determined which of the two occupants was driving.

Names of the two people involved are not yet being released pending notification of family members.
The South Dakota Highway Patrol continues to investigate the crash.
