PARKSTON - An 11-month-old boy who was found dead at a Parkston day care last year died from "abusive head trauma," officials told The Daily Republic.
The South Dakota Attorney General's Office confirmed the name and cause of death of Elliot Milbrandt, Chief of Staff Tim Bormann said in a statement emailed to The Daily Republic on Friday afternoon.
Investigation into the death is ongoing and has not yet pointed conclusively toward who caused the death, although Milbrandt's parents have reportedly been cooperative throughout the investigation and are not considered to have been involved.
The Parkston Police Department responded at 3:54 p.m. on July 23 to an unresponsive Milbrandt at a Parkston day care, and the child, who is survived by a twin brother, died the same day.
As the investigation is ongoing, the Attorney General's Office declined to answer additional questions on the case's status.
