No prison time for fourth-degree rape in Charles Mix County

LAKE ANDES -- A Vermillion man will not serve additional time for statutory rape in Charles Mix County.

On Aug. 15, 23-year-old Jacob Mattis was given a suspended five-year prison sentence for the fourth-degree rape of someone between the ages of 13 and 15.

Mattis was charged with the Class 3 felony on Oct. 18 and pleaded guilty on April 5. He was sentenced to three years on probation and given credit for the 60 days he served in jail.

Mattis is prohibited from having contact with the victim and was ordered to pay $106.50 in court costs.
