No one was injured in a two-vehicle accident Monday afternoon west of Mitchell.
Davison County Sheriff’s Deputy Tim Reitzel said Cole Gilbertson, of De Smet, was driving a 1988 GMC utility van south on Betts Road. Around 4:30 p.m., Reitzel said Gilbertson, 27, stopped at the intersection of Betts and 254th Street (old Highway 16), then pulled into the intersection, striking an eastbound 1999 Ford F150 driven by Kenneth Martish, a 67-year-old from Mount Vernon.
Reitzel said the pickup rolled onto its side, and was resting partially on the road and partially in the ditch. No one was injured, but he estimated the Ford to be a total loss. Reitzel said he cited Gilbertson for failure to yield after a stop sign.
