RAPID CITY (AP) -- The man tabbed to be the next president of Western Dakota Technical Institute has cleared the final hurdle.

According to media reports, the Rapid City Area Schools Board on Thursday approved the hiring of Mark Wilson. He had been named earlier in the week to replace Craig Bailey, who left as the school's leader in January.

Wilson works with South Dakota's Education Department, serving as director of the state Office of Learning and Instruction. He will begin leading western South Dakota's lone technical school on July 1.
