Nellie Star, 91, Corsica, died Thursday, Feb. 19, 2009, at Fountain Springs Nursing Home, Rapid City.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Christian Reformed Church, Corsica. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Corsica. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Koehn Bros. Funeral Chapel, Corsica, with a 7 p.m. prayer service.

She was born Jan. 4, 1918, near Harrison, to Adrian and Effie (Plooster) Beukelman.

She attended country grade school, and N.Y.A. School in White Lake where she learned to sew.

On Feb. 10, 1939, she married William Star at her family farm near Corsica.

Together they farmed on four different farms in Douglas County.

In 1980, they retired and moved to Corsica. They also spent many winters in southern Texas.

She was a member of the Christian Reformed Church, Corsica, which she attended her entire life and was a member of the Ladies Aide and Dorcas Society. She was also a member of the Modern Day Extension Club of Armour.

She is survived by three children: Roger and wife Belva, Rapid City; Ruby Nickels and husband Dale, Black Hawk; and Sharon Ball and husband Rob, Sacramento, Calif.; seven grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband; a grandchild; and a great-grandchild; her parents; three brothers; and a sister.
