PARKER - Neighbors are helping a southeastern South Dakota family of 10 after their house was destroyed in a fire.

KELO-TV reports members of the Parker community dropped off clothes and other items for the Walton family at a local school following the Saturday morning blaze. Crews worked for hours to extinguish the fire.

Brandon Walton says he is very grateful for the community's support. The family with eight children ranging in age from 2 to 14 had lived in the house for four years.

The family is waiting to find a new home before assessing their needs. A drop-off location for donations in nearby Sioux Falls might still be set up.

The cause of the fire hasn't been determined.
