Names released in Brule County fatal crash

KIMBALL — A Warwick, New Jersey man has been identified as the person killed late Thursday night in a two-vehicle crash near Kimball.

According to the South Dakota Department of Public Safety, a Peterbilt semi-truck and trailer was eastbound on Interstate 90 when it was struck by a 2014 Toyota 4 Runner SUV that was westbound in the eastbound lanes.

The driver of the 4 Runner, 30-year-old Adrian Jordan, was pronounced dead at the scene. He was not wearing a seatbelt.

Edward Herring, of Rapid City, 60, was the semi-truck driver. He was wearing a seatbelt, sustained serious, non-life-threatening injuries and was taken by ambulance to the Chamberlain hospital.

The crash occurred at approximately 10:55 p.m. near mile marker 280, about three miles west of Kimball.

Both eastbound lanes of Interstate 90 were closed to traffic for a period of time after the crash.

The South Dakota Department Highway Patrol, part of the South Dakota Department of Public Safety, continues to investigate the crash.
