The Mitchell Board of Education will meet in regular session at 5 p.m. today in Room 116 at the Mitchell Technical Institute north campus, 821 N. Capital St., Mitchell.
As part of today's agenda the board will:
* Recognize FFA student members who are headed to the national convention.
* Consider approving the Mitchell Area Technical Educators agreement for the 2012-2013 school year.
* Consider the salaries of non-instructional personnel for the 2012-2013 school year.

* Consider approving a bidder for construction package 10 for the MTI Trades Center building.
* Consider the first draft of the fiscal year 2013 school budget for MTI.
* Consider approving a supplemental budget item for MTI, from a stimulus grant.
* Consider approving the site-built home constructed by MTI students as surplus, so the home may be sold at auction.
* Consider approving votes for Division I representative to the South Dakota High School Activities Association, as well as an amendment to the SDHSAA Constitution.
* Consider casting a ballot for a representative to the South Dakota Retirement System Board of Trustees.
* Hold a closed executive session on personnel matters.
* Following the closed executive session, possibly render a decision on matters discussed in closed session.

* Approve the following personnel items.
New hires: Marvin Koster, maintenance; Laura Shumaker, seventh grade math, Mitchell Middle School, effective at the end of the school year; Randy Westburg, energy instructor, MTI, effective May 16.
Transfers: Sue Allen, paraeducator, from Longfellow Elementary School to Mitchell High School; Alicia Genzler, paraeducator, from Rosedale Colony to special education, Longfellow; Patti Kelly, from special education paraeducator, Rockport Colony and L.B. Williams Elementary school, to paraeducator Rosedale Colony; Marica Shannon, high school and middle school art, to full-time art at the high school; all effective for the 2012- 2013 school year.
New hires: Jerry Ehlke, instructor MTI, $50,000 a year, effective Aug. 1; McKenzie Frerichs, English instructor, MTI, $33,500 a year, effective Aug. 1; Jennifer Schultz, speech language pathology assistant program instructor, $50,000 a year, effective Aug. 1; Kelly Sterk, custodian/maintenance, MTI, $11.50 an hour effective May 14; Dustin Wheeler, seventh and eighth grade social studies, Mitchell Middle School, $36,300, effective for the 2012- 2013 school year.
