Welcome back to the Mount Vernon column, and here is hoping each of you had a nice holiday season and is ready to begin the activities of the New Year.

Activities for the week of Jan. 6 through 13 are as follows.

Today, school will resume. There will be a girls’ C basketball game in Mount Vernon with Bridgewater-Emery, beginning at 5 p.m. and a JV game at 6:30 p.m. and a varsity game at 8 p.m.

Tuesday, the boys’ basketball C team will play Platte-Geddes at Plankinton at 5 p.m. There will be a JV game at 6:30 p.m. followed by the varsity game at 7:45 p.m.

Thursday, there will be a basketball double header with Sanborn Central-Woonsocket in Plankinton for the junior high boys and junior high girls at 4 p.m. There will be a boys’ C game at Hanson School beginning at 5 p.m., a JV game at 6:15 p.m. and a varsity game at 8 p.m.

Saturday, there will be a boys’ varsity wrestling tournament at Miller High School beginning at 10 a.m.

There will be a boys’ C basketball game with Sanborn Central-Woonsocket at Woonsocket High School beginning at noon. A girls’ JV basketball game with Sanborn Central-Woonsocket at Woonsocket will begin at 1 p.m. followed by the JV boys at 2 p.m., girls’ varsity game at 3:30 p.m. and the boys’ varsity game at 5 p.m.

Monday, there will be a girls’ C basketball game at Mount Vernon with Avon beginning at 5 p.m., a JV game at 6:30 p.m. and the varsity game at 8 p.m.
