A Mitchell woman was arrested in mid-November for possession of a controlled substance.
Amanda Reed, 28, was taken on Nov. 7 for a detox hold after being reported as intoxicated on the second floor of 304 N. Main St., according to court documents. She blew a 0.116 on a breathalyzer, according to court documents. While at the jail, law enforcement searched Reed and found a bottle of prescription pills not prescribed to her.
Court documents say the bottle was for Reed's boyfriend, Stephen Seltz, who was in police custody at the time for allegedly causing a fire at the apartment building the evening of Nov. 6.
Reed told law enforcement she planned to give Seltz his prescription and denied taking any pills. Law enforcement counted the pills and found three to be missing.
Possession of a controlled substance carries a maximum penalty, upon conviction, of five years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
