An 18-year-old Mitchell man could spend up to five years in prison after failing to notify law enforcement when he changed his residence as a registered sex offender.
Dustin James Nordrum pleaded guilty Tuesday for failing to provide a written notice of a change in his address. State law requires registered sex offenders to give notice of any change of address within five days of moving.
Nordrum lived with his mother before a dispute caused him to move in with a friend before he was arrested April 16. The felony carries a maximum of two years in prison and a $4,000 fine.
Nordrum was charged with distributing a substance for the purpose of intoxication and contributing to the delinquency of a minor after his April 16 arrest.
Those misdemeanors were dropped as part of a plea agreement.

Nordrum served 75 days in jail earlier this year after he was convicted of fourth-degree rape in December 2011.
He was given a suspended five-year prison sentence, which could be reinstated after the violation of his probation. He will be sentenced for his most recent crimes later this month.
