Mitchell police are searching for potential suspects after recovering a stolen vehicle Tuesday morning.
Officers located a Ford Taurus that was reported stolen at 7:37 p.m. Sunday from the 1200 block of East Havens Avenue. It was found in the 400 block of North Mentzer Street, according to Mitchell Police Sgt. Joel Reinesch.
Reinesch said the vehicle's owner started it to let it warm up, but came outside five to 10 minutes later and it was gone.
"It looks like we have some leads that are being followed up on, and we have a possible suspect," Reinesch said. "There was some physical evidence left behind at the scene."
There was no damage to the vehicle, but Reinesch suggested to anyone who lets their vehicle warm up during the frigid South Dakota winter to lock it and have a second set of keys.
