Mitchell police closed East 10th Avenue Friday while investigating two juveniles believed to be armed with handguns.
The street was closed from 3:44 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. while detaining two male juveniles, age 16 and 17. The two were taken into custody without incident around 3:30 p.m. and the area has been declared safe.
According to Mitchell Detective Sgt. Dean Knippling, after receiving a tip, police found that the juveniles were staying at 33-year-old Anita Kenyon’s residence. Kenyon was arrested for possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Other charges are pending.
An investigation is ongoing.
