Three Mitchell men were arrested on drug charges Thursday morning after law enforcement executed a search warrant at a local residence.
Kyle Anthony Schoenfelder, 22, was arrested for felony possession of a controlled substance and possession of less than 2 ounces of marijuana, a misdemeanor. According to Mitchell Police Detective Lt. Don Everson, investigators found methadone, Xanax and Adderall pills in an area of the residence belonging to Schoenfelder, who was not home during the search. He faces a maximum of 10 years in prison and a $20,000 fine for possession of a controlled substance, the most serious charge.
Two other men, Joshua Scott Muntefering, 21, and Joseph Dean Muntefering, 21, were both arrested for possession of less than 2 ounces of marijuana. The two are twin brothers. Each faces a maximum of one year in jail and a $2,000 fine if convicted of the misdemeanor. Joseph Muntefering was also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.
The search was conducted at 1304 Bridle Drive, near Avera Queen of Peace Hospital, at approximately 8:36 a.m.
Everson said another individual was arrested during the search on an outstanding warrant from Yankton County. Two others present for the search were interviewed and released pending analysis of their urine samples.

The investigation was conducted by the James Valley Drug Task Force with assistance from the state Division of Criminal Investigation and state Highway Patrol.
