A Mitchell man was sentenced Monday to three years of probation and 90 days in jail for possession of a controlled substance.
Matthew Nunez, 19, pleaded guilty to a felony drug charge for illegally possessing a controlled prescription drug known as alprazolam, commonly referred to as Xanax. Fifty-seven days of Nunez's 90-day jail term were suspended.
Nunez had previously pleaded not guilty to the charge on Jan. 8.
