A Mitchell man was arrested in late October in Nebraska after absconding from his probation in Davison County.

Court documents say Lucas Johnson, 30, is charged with second-degree escape after he walked away from his job and Stepping Stones treatment facility in September.

Law enforcement tracked him down in Nebraska after he and his girlfriend didn't pay for gas at a gas station. The two were jailed in Grand Island, Neb., because they were both on probation, according to court documents.

Second-degree escape carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison and a $10,000 fine, upon conviction.
