A Mitchell man faces charges for allegedly attempting to drive into another person.

Troy Janssen, 54, was charged with aggravated assault on Sept. 13.

On at approximately 1:26 p.m. on Sept. 13, 54-year-old Troy Janssen was driving his vehicle near the area of 1600 N. Kimball St. and 1600 N. Sanborn Blvd. in Mitchell. Janssen allegedly drove off the asphalt parking lot into an open field where he accelerated and nearly hit another person, court documents state.

According to court documents, a witness told law enforcement, Janssen's vehicle "came within feet of the victim." The witness stated he heard Janssen yelling at the victim as he was allegedly driving after him.

An arraignment is scheduled for Nov. 16.

Aggravated assault is a Class 3 felony punishable upon conviction by up to 15 years in prison and a $30,000 fine.
