A Mitchell man was arrested Tuesday after he allegedly sexually assaulted an adult female victim at a local motel Monday night.

Wesley Harold Means, 30, is charged with second-degree rape and domestic simple assault after allegedly sexually assaulting and then physically attacking a woman at the Coachlight Motel.

According to a Mitchell Police Division news release, Means was previously acquainted with the victim, who suffered minor injuries in the incident. Means faces a maximum of 50 years in prison and a $50,000 fine for second-degree rape and one year in jail and a $2,000 fine for domestic simple assault. Means remains in custody at the Davison County Jail with bond set at $10,000. He is scheduled to appear in court later this month.
