Mitchell firefighters were called to 709 S. Sanborn Blvd. Wednesday afternoon for a house fire.
Upon arriving, thick smoke could be seen coming from the small two-story home, which is set back from Sanborn Boulevard and accessible from the alley to the west.
Firefighters were able to control the fire and evacuate the smoke by breaking windows in the home and using a large fan.
The fire was under control by 3:15 p.m., shortly after it was reported.
According to scanner reports, an ambulance was requested for a toddler who was close to the fire and may have received facial burns.

Residents in a home to the east that is converted into apartments were asked to move their vehicles but were not evacuated.
This is at least the third fire in two days for Mitchell. Firefighters responded Tuesday to a camper fire in the Cabela's parking lot and a fire at AKG North American Operations.
