Mitchell Fire Department responds to basement fire

No one was injured in a house fire on Sunday night in Mitchell.

No one was injured in a basement fire inside a Mitchell home on Sunday night.

At about 8:10 p.m., the Mitchell Fire Department responded to a fire call at 420 W. First Ave.

All occupants of the house were able to get out safely, according to Mitchell Fire Chief Marius Laursen.

The fire was knocked out in about 30 minutes while crews continued to check for hot spots within the structure.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.


The Mitchell Police Department and Davison County Sheriff's Department also assisted at the scene.
