South Dakota woman who died in Saturday crash near Willmar identified

WILLMAR, Minn. — The victim in the fatal crash Saturday morning west of Willmar has been identified as Sharon Beth Berglund, 56, of La Bolt, South Dakota.

Sharon Berglund died when a 2008 Mercury Mountaineer driven by Daniel Scott Berglund, 62, of La Bolt, and a 2019 Kenworth tractor/trailer collided at the intersection of Minnesota Highway 40 and Kandiyohi County Road 7 west of Willmar.

The Mercury had been traveling east on Highway 40 and the semi was traveling north on County Road 7, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

Daniel Berglund was taken to CentraCare-Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar with injuries that were not life-threatening.

The driver of the semi, Korey Walter Cox, 40, of York, Alabama, was uninjured.

According to the State Patrol report, Cox was wearing a seat belt, but Daniel and Sharon Berglund were not belted. Alcohol was not considered a factor.
