A Mitchell man received a suspended prison sentence Tuesday for possession of a controlled substance.
Bernard Drapeau, 31, was convicted in October of possessing methamphetamine. It stems from an incident in June when a police officer arrested Drapeau on some warrants and found him in possession of meth.
Judge Tim Bjorkman sentenced Drapeau to 120 days in jail, with six days’ credit for time served. Drapeau must enroll in an anger management class and begin counseling for childhood abuse and abandonment issues.
He must also pay $133 in prosecution costs, $104 in court costs and repay his court-appointed attorney fees. He must use his best efforts to get his GED, enroll in the 24/7 Sobriety program, not take or be around drugs or alcohol, get a job and maintain it and successfully complete treatment and aftercare. He will be on probation for three years.
