Metales M5 will bring its Mexican brass sound to Mitchell at 7:30 p.m. today in the Mitchell Senior High School auditorium.

Since its founding in 2005 in Morelia, Michoacán, the five gentlemen in the group have been playing a wide variety of music without regard to genre: Baroque and contemporary music, opera and blues, pop, movie soundtracks and folk music from Spain, Mexico, and other Latin American countries. Combining their skills at fine classical chamber music, non-stop interaction with the audience, showmanship and Latin American charm, M5 concerts are unique musical-theatrical concert experiences.

As evidenced in their CDs and live programs, M5 mixes the known with the unexpected -- surprising, virtuosic and entertaining. Metales M5 is Ensemble-in-Residence at Morelia's Conservatorio de las Rosas, America's oldest conservatory of music (founded in 1743).

The group has been touring the United States since 2008 and made its South America debut in 2012 at the International Music Festival of Cartagena, Colombia. With more than 80 concerts in the U.S. in the 2011-12 season, Metalies M5 is becoming one of Mexico's most active cultural ambassadors.
